Year 6
Welcome to the Year 6 page
Class 7 is taught by Mr. Wilson and Class 8 is taught by Mrs. Foley. We are lucky to be supported by Miss Walton and Miss Coleman, who work as TAs in both classes. In addition, Miss Walton also teaches on several afternoons.
On a Thursday afternoon, Miss Farr teaches PE to both classes and Mrs. Mason, our music specialist, teaches music. We have an additional PE lesson on a Monday afternoon.
This term, our history topic focuses on the census and records about our local area. We will learn about what a census is and how the information was, and is, gathered now and in the past. The children will have a go at gathering details for their own ‘census’ before we start to focus on the information we can find if we look at pages from the census. We will look at the most recently published census information for the Linton area and see what conclusions we can start to draw about the population of Linton around one hundred years ago.
This term our class novel is Wild Boy, which is set in Victorian London, and tells the tale of a boy covered in hair, raised as a “monster”, condemned to life in a travelling “freak show”. It is certainly sparking a lot of discussion already!
